The news of tariffs imposed on all countries exporting into the US has shaken our artist community since its early announcement and it is not hard to understand why.
The past 5 years have been challenging for art buyers and artists alike: Brexit and Covid redefined the online retail world; AI brought new complications over what is art and about intellectual property; changes to the economic landscape have continued to be challenging.
Despite this, it is so inspiring to see artists continue creating beautiful works, customers continue to fall in love with art and we continue to support our art community in making this happen.
We are therefore really relieved to see that, at least for now, original artworks are exempt from these new tariffs. This means our US customers can safely continue buying from artists from all corners of the world, because this is how it should be. Art is about storytelling, and stories are more interesting when they have different points of view.
The current landscape remains fluid and it is difficult to predict what will happen in the coming days/weeks/months following the initial announcements.
Rest assured we will continue to monitor the situation closely, to ensure all of you - whether you buy art or create it - can continue doing so at affordable prices and without jumping through several complicated hoops.
Our core mission is to help artists make a living out of their art and help buyers find the perfect artwork for their home. We promise to continue delivering on that mission come rain, shine or tariffs.
